That's what some of my friends asked me when I told them about my idea of starting a blog.
For the last couple of years, I have been against social media and sharing my life on it.
I still somewhere feel it is not necessary.
Since 2018, I used to give a lot of unasked pieces of advice to people regarding social media. I was certain that there is no reason to be on social media & was so confident (or you can call it my ego) that they don't know what they are doing and they are wrong.
Cut to today.
I am back on social media.
I realized that there are some good reasons as well, to be on social platforms.
I was against me blogging too because I thought I don't want to come into the limelight, I still don't want to, somewhere.
But the actual truth was the fear of rejection or what will people think of me and my thoughts.
It was a small tug of war between whether to have a blog or not.
Then one good reason, made me do this. I was reading this book called Show Your Work by Austin Kleon, and I got inspired by the idea how and why sharing my work & my learnings is important.
There is this thing I have, that whenever I learn something really good, I want to share it with someone. But after so much sharing with some of my friends and family members, a few of the close ones gave me a feedback that they don't like when I share because they are not into this all learning and motivational kinda thing. I don't know what to call this.
And I get it, not everyone likes this kinda stuff. There is nothing wrong with it, it's just a choice. So, at one point, I stopped sharing, with the confusion that I don't know who would actually be beneficial by what I want to share.
What if some might not be able to say to me on my face that they don't like it?
So instead of figuring out all the time about whom to share & who would be interested in it, I figured out a better way, having space where I write about my life and learnings and the mistakes and blunders.
Whoever wants to know, what am I up to recently? They can just check this space out.
Also, if you notice, I have switched off my like or comment section in all of my blogs, because I don't want that. When I used to share things with people or when I used to get messages from someone, most of the time either I give them blue ticks or I reply out of courtesy. So I figured out, it's better to not have that pressure of replying or liking stuff. If you want to share something, a thought, or feedback with me, or if you have a contradicting idea from me, feel free to contact me personally. I would love to hear your thoughts.
I don't know how frequently will I be updating this space. But this is what I am.
If I find a compelling thought or idea, I like to try it out, sometimes it means that doing exactly the opposite of what I used to think, the best example is my presence in social media in the last 3 years, I have left social media, at least 3 times permanently in past 3 years. And I am back.
So this is me, this is my space, be here if you like.
